Our Story
Every remarkable journey begins with a meaningful connection.
Beyond Borders Collective was founded by husband-and-wife duo Raul and Kirsten Reyes. Raul, an entrepreneur from Quito, Ecuador, and Kirsten, a travel enthusiast from Kearney, Nebraska, met while Kirsten was volunteering in Ecuador.
As their relationship grew, Raul introduced Kirsten to the remarkable craftsmanship of Indigenous artisans from the Ecuadorian highlands. Their first blanket purchase together became more than a beautiful piece of textile—it became part of their story, accompanying them through adventures, celebrations, quiet evenings, and meaningful moments together.
Inspired by the beauty of these handcrafted textiles and the people behind them, they founded Beyond Borders Collective in 2017 with a mission to empower artisans, celebrate cultural heritage, and bridge the gaps between cultures.
What began with a shared love for artisan-made blankets has grown into a collective built around connection, craftsmanship, and meaningful impact.
